Following on from a previous project we had completed with International Beverages, another of their drink brands, Caorunn Gin, were looking to get perfect serve video and photography content produced for a social campaign.

The brief was to produce a series of 6 perfect serve videos to be used across website and social channels. The real challenge was they were all to look different and be filmed to work across 16:9, 1:1 and 9:16 ratios. Filming for 3 very different ratios at the same time makes set styling and layout challenging to ensure every ratio looks balanced, features the brand and “makes sense” but this is becoming more common place in the world of branded social content.

Production

Each of the videos was to have a different colour theme to compliment the base gin being used and to compliment the label colours. Coloured backdrops, coasters, mixology tools, garnishes, foliage, lighting flags and glassware were all changed for each video to give them a distinct feel whilst being part of an overall aesthetic to produce a coherent series. Each finished cocktail was also photographed in-situ with the same lighting for efficiency and consistency.

The videos were filmed using our in-house Sony FX6 and FX3 cameras all using G-master lenses. The FX6 was mounted on a tripod with fluid head to give us a full scene shot, an FX3 mounted on the 3-axis Rhino slider which itself was mounted at an angle to give us some dynamic, repeatable shots and another FX3 was handheld to capture details.

Each video needed to be edited into 3 separate ratios for different distribution channels so careful consideration was made for the framing of each shot so that every frame was balanced, branded and on point!

All the content was filmed at LUX’s kitchen studio across 2 days.

Post-Production

This project encompassed our 3 core services of video, motion graphics and photography and was great fun to put together. First off we sourced the production music we would need so we could edit the videos to the beat and pace. Once the edits were built we then graded the footage (not to be confused with basic colour correction) and animated the supplied assets onto each video to bring the whole series together.

Once we had the picture and format signed off we then produced all the different ratios of each for final distribution. Total time from start to finish of post-production was 6 weeks.
